How much do your household appliances cost you in electricity expense each month?
Which appliances contribute the most to your total monthly electric bill?
Find out with the new MAC with Consumption Estimator!
Just follow these simple steps and let the MAC do the rest for you:
- Click on an appliance category (e.g., Cooking).
- Select a specific appliance from the list.
- Enter the amount of your monthly electric bill.
- Select how many hours per day, days per week, and weeks per month you use the appliance.
- Click on Add appliance to My List and begin filling your household appliance LIST with their operating cost.
- Change the quantity of each appliance to show your home appliance count.
- Repeat steps 2 to 6 for all your other appliances until most of your REMAINING BALANCE has been accounted for.
- Click on Tell me how to manage my Bill to view energy saving tips for each appliance category.
- Click on Try Again to clear the appliance list.
Helpful Hints:
- An amount equal to the estimated TOTAL consumption of the listed appliances appears at the bottom of the appliance list.
- An amount equal to the balance of your monthly electric bill – (monthly bill less the cost of the listed appliances) is also shown for your remaining appliances.
- The pie chart on the left side of the screen shows you how much each of your appliances contributes to your total bill.
- The
icon beside the AMOUNT of the appliance deletes it from the list.
- The
icon edits the usage of a listed appliance.
- Click on Try Again to clear the Appliance List.
- Click on Tell me how to manage my Bill to view energy saving tips for each appliance category.
To compute for appliances not found or listed
Follow the steps above. For Type of Appliance, select Others at the bottom of the list. For Wattage, type in the wattage rating found in the operator’s manual or on the body of the appliance (usually in watts or w). NOTE: Choose GENERAL APPLIANCES if you are unsure of a category.
To compute using specific wattages
Follow the steps above. Change the wattage that appears after Step 3 with the wattage found in the operator’s manual or on the body of the appliance (usually in watts or w).
MAC computations estimate the hourly, daily, weekly and monthly costs to operate an appliance. The results reflect controlled laboratory conditions and may vary in actual use of the appliance. Factors that affect the operation and efficiency of appliances (e.g., age of unit, wear and tear of parts, wrong operation, room temperature, mishandling, etc.) can bring different results to different customers.
