Sta. Maria substation expansion completed
Customers benefitting from the operation of the Sta. Maria substation get further boost in service with the completion of the final phase of the facilitys expansion project.
On July 1, Sta. Maria circuits 424YU and 425YU were commissioned.
Circuit 424YU alleviates the load of Bocaue circuit 43YE while circuit 425YU eases the load of Sta. Maria circuit 44YU.
The initial phase of the project was completed on Aug. 31, 2002 involving the commissioning of the second power transformer bank and the energization of two circuits Sta. Maria 422YU and 423YU.
The completion of these two new feeders solved the critical loading problem of the banks and feeders of Bocaue and Sta. Maria substations.
The project also provided additional capacity in order to meet future loads and improved the switching flexibility in the area during contingencies.
The reliability of Bocaue 43YE and Sta. Maria 44YU is expected to improve significantly in terms of reduced line exposure.
Among the big Meralco customers benefitting from this project are Shin Nippon Steel Corp., Vitarich Corporation and several milling plants.
