MERALCO SAID POWER OUTAGES TODAY MAY BE LONGER DUE TO TRIPPING OF SUBSTATIONS

The Meralco Electric Company (Meralco) said that due to critical loading and in its attempt to shift load, three of its substations tripped. These are Hillcrest, Mandaluyong and SM-Shangri-La substations. Because of this latest development, Meralco said that this will result in longer duration of power outages in affected places.
It will be recalled that Meralco started rotating power outages starting this morning following a power interruption caused by the transmission trouble at the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines' (NGCP) Dolores substation last night. These brownouts affected areas in the eastern part of the franchise.
Meralco said, “Both the NGCP and Meralco are doing everything to restore normal state of power. We beg your indulgence for this inconvenience.”
