Our Commitment to Safety
Because safety is major trust of MERALCO, even before a contractor is listed and accredited, they pass a filtering process would disqualify them should they have projects that had reported accidents or safety violation incidents. We do not stop there - as the AMC progresses in the program, they become more efficient in what they do continually improve their safety practices.
Providing a safe environment for our contractors and customers is part of our commitment to the public. Not only is it a goal that we commit to, it is a must. With the Accredited Meralco Contractors program, we are implementing a comprehensive program that educates contractors the necessary occupational safety standards that allows efficient roll out of projects without the risk to life, limb or property.
MERALCO will be working with experts in safety management, government agencies and local government units in fulfillment of this trust.
Why is important to accredit contractors?
Contractors are the first in the chain of institutions that businesses contact when starting or expanding their business. They prepare the electrical design, the technical intricacies of electric load and your equipment or appliances energy demand, as well as develop the implementation plan that leads to the construct of your building or facility. However, not all contractors strictly follow electrical safety standards, nor do they have the proper expertise to fulfill your project on schedule.
Accreditation ensures that the contractors that you deal with are trained with the highest standards of electric safety and adhere to it every step of the way. With our education and training programs for AMCs, you are assured that they are aware of the application process and requirements for getting electricity. AMCs will not waste your time and resources with costly rework, illegal fees or long-winded and tortuous steps to get electricity.
Accreditation Partners
MERALCO cooperated with respected organizations such as: Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) and Society of Philippine Electrotechnical Constructors and Suppliers (SPECS). Contractors commit to technical and ethical practices
AMCs adhere to the strict standards of quality service that Meralco has set. They will commit to completing their contractual obligations and will not unduly abandon work. But apart from the technical standards that AMCs swear by, you can expect AMCs to observeethical business practices that Meralco upholds. As Accredited Meralco Contractors, they are not only experts in what they do technically; they are also ambassadors ofgood conduct, excellent governance and ethical transactions.
Accreditation Process
Contractors go through a stringent process of assessment before they are accredited. Not only do they need to demonstrate technical competence and showcase the quality of all their previous projects, they must also prove that their crew is supervised by a licensed practitioner, and experienced in various situations that avoids unnecessary rework in the business process.
AMCs are also interviewed by Meralco during the accreditation process and maybe subject to inspection and field survey at any time during the course of their accreditation. To ensure quality work is maintained, Meralco may randomly survey any previous work of the contractor - on site. Violators are delisted if they fail to demonstrate compliance.
Delisting Process
Delisting is a procedure that maintains excellent service reliability among our AMCs. It is an assurance to the public that they are committed to service quality. Please notify Meralco if there are contractors that you think should not be part of our accredited contractor's list.
MERALCO welcomes reports that will help us ensure we give customers the highest quality service that they deserve. AMC complaints can be reported to our Call Center or Technical Support Offices. MERALCO will then conduct an investigation and appropriate penalties or blacklisting rules will apply.
Grounds for Revocation of Accreditation
- 1. Undue abandonment of contracted work obligations to the customer.
- 2. Unethical transactions, bad record or falsification of documents.
- 3. Actions that caused damage to Meralco's corporate image.

Q:
|
What is the difference between an accredited contractor and a regular contractor? |
A:
|
AMCs' commitment to the highest possible standards sets them apart from regular contractors who are

|
Is safety a part of contractor obligations? |
A:
|
Yes, it is part of contractor obligations of all AMCs. They must continually adhere to safety

pass a filtering process would disqualify them should they have projects that had reported
accidents or safety violation incidents.
|
Q:
|
How will AMCs help fast track my application for electricity? |
A:
|
Since the AMCs are required to attend seminars and trainings conducted by MERALCO, they are
already knowledgeable with the technical and safety standards required by MERALCO in approving
your service entrance facility. This avoids costly rework; faulty designs and unnecessary steps
in the application process. Furthermore, because AMCs regularly coordinate with MERALCO, their
personnel are already experienced in troubleshooting technical problems, getting the necessary
permits as well as handling different situations affecting your application for electricity.
|
Q:
|
Are AMCs MERALCO employees or subsidiary companies of MERALCO? |
A:
|
AMCs are third party companies that facilitate customers' application for electricity. They
are not employees or subsidiaries, or agents of MERALCO.
|
Q:
|
I would like to report a contractor that should not be part of your AMC list. Who do I contact to report the complaint? |
A:
|
Yes, MERALCO welcomes reports that will help us ensure we give customers the highest quality
service that they deserve. AMC complaints can be reported to our Call Center or Technical Support
Offices. MERALCO will then conduct an investigation and appropriate penalties or blacklisting
rules will apply.
|
Q:
|
Does this mean that applications for electric service will now be done through AMCs? |
A:
|
AMCs will be in close coordination with MERALCO during the entire course of the service
application. But, final approval of design will still be done by MERALCO personnel. AMCs

transact directly with MERALCO for the customer.
