Corporate Governance Office and Legal personnel attended a forum with the theme: "SEC reforms to strengthen an ethical and competitive business environment" on March 5, 2013 at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Makati City. The speaker during the forum was SEC Chairperson Teresita J. Herbosa, who discussed SEC's recent efforts to strengthen the corporate and capital market infrastructure of the Philippines leading to better governance and competitiveness.

Highlighting principles of governance
Dubbed as "Corporate Governance: Our Principles @ Work", Corporate Governance Office launched a month-long series of corporate desktop wallpaper and posters, which are highly visible and informative for the directors, officers, employees and stakeholders of the Company. The First Pacific Group of Companies held a Corporate Governance (CG) Forum entitled "Navigating the New World of Business" on November 19 and 20, 2012 at Meralco’s Lighthouse and Theater, respectively. Board appoints new Meralco Compliance Officer and Secretariat
At its regular meeting on September 24, 2012, the Board of Directors appointed Atty. William S. Pamintuan as the new Compliance Officer of the Company. As Compliance Officer, Atty. Pamintuan shall primarily monitor Meralco’s compliance with the Code of Ethics and the Revised Manual of Corporate Governance.

Meralco participates in the launch of the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard
The Philippines has adopted the ASEAN Corporate Governance scorecard in assessing the corporate governance initiatives of publicly-listed companies in the country, replacing the current Corporate Governance Scorecard developed by the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).

2009 Year-End Results
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 22nd FEBRUARY 2010 – Manila Electric Company ("MERALCO") (PSE: MER) today announced that its Consolidated Core Net Income, which excludes one-time, exceptional charges, stood at Pesos 7.0 billion, which is 169% better than the Core Net Income in 2008 of Pesos 2.6 billion.
