Part of Kuryente Watch efforts include a public service educational campaign to make customers aware of the dangers of power pilferage to lives and property.
Q: What are the penalties involved in pilferage of electricity?
Answer:
Republic Act 7832 prohibits line pilferage. The penalties for this crime are imprisonment from 6 years and 1 day up to 20 years, and/or payment of P10,000 up to P20,000. On top of this, you will have to pay for the corresponding amount of the electricity and surcharge stolen.
