The most outstanding partners are named Meralco Luminaries.
CITY GOVERNMENT OF BACOOR
Bacoor City, Cavite, led by Mayor Strike Revilla, was the first local government unit to introduce electronic processing of Certificates of Final Electrical Inspection (Electronic CFEI) to the public. This reduced the processing time from eight days to only three days, resulting in faster energization - a key indicator of progress and a city's competitiveness. In effect, the city experienced business growth, expansion, and more efficient implementation of community projects.
Since partnering with Meralco, Bacoor has also become an awardee of the DILG Seal of Good Housekeeping in 2012, and has embarked on numerous housing projects, as well as a shelter to help improve the quality of lives of disadvantaged women and children. The city continues to provide scholarships for vocational courses with TESDA and conducts Strike-A-Job fairs to increase the productivity and raise the skill level of its residents. Furthermore, Bacoor founded the Intel Computer Clubhouse that helps the educational development of young people in underserved communities. In addition, Bacoor has implemented a ‘no plastic’ policy to promotes environmental conservation.
Bacoor also worked closely with Meralco in various projects including RAISE projects for the Ramblers & Hopeland Neighborhood Association, new streetlights, day care centers, barangay halls, eco-parks, schools, and the new Bacoor Government Center, making Bacoor one of the fastest growing cities, considering it was only proclaimed an official city in 2012.
MC MASTER SIOMAI HUT INCORPORATED
MC Master Siomai Hut, Inc., a well-known supplier of processed meat for franchised food carts, is the company behind the famous Master Siomai dumplings. Even before the construction of its factory, Master Siomai had already begun collaborating with Meralco. Understanding that the conversion from manual to a fully automated operation will require a constant supply of power, they upgraded their facilities and worked with Meralco in designing their electrical load to suit their new machines, upgrading its primary line and transformers to a higher KVA to support its automation project.
This change allowed the plant to sustain its growth momentum and respond to the growing demand for franchises. Since then, Master Siomai has expanded its product line to burger patties, ham, and bacon to supply hotels and restaurants. It has dramatically grown its franchise base from 100 to 600 in just three years.
INDO PHIL TEXTILE MILLS INCORPORATED
The Philippine textile industry is constantly challenged to maintain its competitiveness against other textile mills in Asia. The manufacturing process for textile yarn is very power-intensive, and the rising cost of operations has caused almost all textile yarn manufacturers to either close shop or shift to less power intensive operations such as fabric dyeing.
Indo Phil Textile Mills, the Philippines’ only remaining textile yarn manufacturer, was able to maintain its full scale of operations by optimizing on Meralco’s Time-of-Use Program’s lower night time rates, allowing them to remain as a veritable industry leader in producing high quality products that are competitively priced.
As one of the largest operations in the textile industry with almost 40 years of expertise under their belt, Indo Phil is regarded as a frontrunner in re-establishing the Philippines as a major player in the global textile industry. Not only does it directly serve key markets in North America and Europe, a good share of its output is used as raw material for local textile manufacturers who themselves actively engage in export activities.
MEGAWORLD CORPORATION
Megaworld is one of the most trusted names in property development and regarded as one of the country’s premiere developers. The company pioneered the ‘urban township development’ concept which incorporates residential, commercial, and office spaces in thriving, strategically-located areas. Each of Megaworld’s townships feature a strong understanding and appreciation of its market’s needs, so it comes to no surprise that the company now leads the pack in both residential and BPO office space share, cornering 16% and 30% of the market respectively.
Megaworld incorporated Meralco’s energy efficient solutions into the designs of its custom-built BPO offices and is playing a key role in fueling the 10% growth of the BPO industry. With Meralco as a dependable partner in providing energy management services and aiding in timely access to power for its new customized BPO buildings, Megaworld is set to maintain its leadership position that will support the growth of the $14 billion BPO industry.
