Meralco Advisory - July 2020
Due mainly to Meralco's Force Majeure claim in its agreements with its power suppliers, electricity rates for the month of July 2020 will have a decrease for the third straight month. The rate decrease amounts to around P0.0286 per kWH or around P6.00 to the total bill of typical households where power consumption averages 200kWh monthly.
Because of the implications to power demand of the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) and General Community Quarantine (GCQ), Meralco claimed the Force Majeure provision in its Power Supply Agreements (PSA) to reduce the fixed charges charged by power suppliers every month.
In addition, Meralco’s distribution, supply, and metering charges continue to remain unchanged for 5 years. These charges last registered reductions in July 2015.
Despite the decrease, Meralco urges customers to be energy efficient. To read about our Bright Ideas energy efficiency tips, click here.
