Reliable power for your site

Plan the right service, protect sensitive equipment, and use current network and rate information when you evaluate a business location.

Site selection and expansion

Bring the load forecast into the location decision

The connection available at one site may not match another. Meralco can evaluate the proposed demand and facilities required for the location.

Define the operating requirement
  • Forecast normal, peak, startup, and expansion demand.
  • Identify critical loads and acceptable interruption or recovery conditions.
  • Document voltage, phase, redundancy, and power-quality needs for major equipment.
Assess the proposed connection

Share the location and load information early so Meralco can identify the available service, studies, new facilities, customer work, schedule, and project cost that may apply.

Compare current commercial information

Use current Meralco rate publications, the applicable customer class, and a realistic operating profile. Do not project costs from a single historical rate.

Power quality

Match the electrical supply and the equipment

Power quality concerns the voltage, frequency, and resulting current that equipment receives under normal conditions. Site and equipment design determine how operations respond to disturbances.

Voltage compatibility

Confirm that equipment ratings and tolerance match the available service. Use properly designed transformation and protection when equipment requires another voltage.

Phase balance and power factor

Uneven single-phase loads can affect a three-phase system, while poor power factor can increase current and losses. Qualified professionals should review load distribution and correction needs.

Voltage sags and disturbances

Large load starts, faults, weather, vegetation, animals, public interference, and other events can cause short voltage changes. Sensitive facilities should evaluate equipment tolerance and suitable mitigation.

Preventive coordination

Meralco maintains distribution equipment and investigates supply concerns. Customers remain responsible for safe internal wiring, equipment compatibility, protection, maintenance, and operational continuity planning.

Business electrical safety

Protect people, equipment, and continuity

Qualified design and work
  • Use licensed and qualified electrical professionals for design, installation, and major changes.
  • Keep electrical plans, panels, labels, clearances, and protective devices current.
  • Do not operate unregistered generation or backfeed the grid without the required interconnection controls.
Inspection and maintenance
  • Inspect for overheating, damaged insulation, loose connections, water exposure, and overloaded circuits.
  • Follow equipment maintenance schedules and investigate repeated tripping, flicker, unusual heat, smell, or noise.
  • Keep vegetation, stored materials, vehicles, and construction activity clear of electrical facilities.
Emergency readiness
  • Train staff on shutdown, evacuation, and emergency-contact procedures.
  • Keep backup systems isolated and operated according to their approved design.
  • Treat fallen wires and damaged electrical facilities as energized; keep away and report them immediately.

Reliability and power-quality questions

  1. Can Meralco confirm whether a proposed site can support my load?

Meralco can evaluate the location and proposed load, then identify the studies, facilities, customer work, schedule, and commercial requirements that may apply.

  2. Does a utility connection replace my continuity plan?

No. A business should define critical loads, equipment tolerance, safe backup arrangements, recovery procedures, and maintenance responsibilities based on its own operating risk.
