Electric Vehicles

Match an electric vehicle and charging plan to daily travel, parking, available charging time, electrical capacity, connector, installation, and support.

Plan the vehicle and charging together

Begin with normal daily and weekly travel, the places where the vehicle parks, and the time available to charge. Range and charging time vary with vehicle, battery, speed, traffic, weather, terrain, load, accessory use, charger, and battery condition.

Home-charging assessment

  • Confirm the vehicle inlet, connector, onboard charging limit, and manufacturer guidance.
  • Have a qualified professional assess the service capacity, panel, circuit, protection, grounding, cable route, ventilation, and parking location.
  • Use listed charging equipment installed for its environment; do not rely on improvised adapters or extension cords.
  • Plan cable storage so it does not create a trip, impact, water, or access hazard.
  • Understand warranty, software, maintenance, emergency guidance, and after-sales support.

Compare vehicle and charging proposals using current specifications and your real travel pattern. Historical fuel-price or electricity-rate comparisons should not be treated as current.
