Under Meralco’s Long-Term Sustainability Strategy, clean energy is positioned as an enabler of vital impact areas: education, water access, healthcare, and livelihood productivity.

Through the leadership of the One Meralco Foundation (OMF), these commitments are brought to life: energizing off-grid schools, supporting healthcare facilities, improving access to safe water, and empowering livelihoods through reliable electricity. OMF likewise advances disaster resilience and recovery by delivering immediate relief to calamity-hit communities and equipping local governments with science-based training and tools to strengthen long-term preparedness.

In doing so, Meralco creates enduring social value that extends beyond infrastructure—affirming that the energy transition is about advancing human development and shared prosperity for all.

With 20 urban farms now established across our Headquarters, Sector Offices, and Business Centers, the program encourages employees to grow vegetables in green spaces, fostering volunteerism, healthier lifestyles, and stronger ties to nature.

Through partnerships with local governments and barangays, PowerPlants extends its impact beyond the workplace, nourishing surrounding communities with fresh produce while promoting sustainable agriculture. By reconnecting people with nature and showing that sustainability can take root in our own backyard, PowerPlants proves how everyday practices can flourish across communities.

Under the banner of Meralco’s two greening programs—PowerPlants and One For Trees—the Greening the MOC (Meralco Operating Center) initiative is transforming the Company’s Pasig Headquarters into the green lungs of the Ortigas business district. With thousands of trees and plants being cultivated, the program enriches biodiversity, improves air quality, and creates healthier spaces for employees and neighboring communities. Guided by global benchmarks and DENR standards, every tree and plant grown are fit for purpose—ensuring that Meralco’s facilities embody sustainability in action.

So far, we have planted and nurtured over three million trees across 35 reforestation sites nationwide—rehabilitating damaged and threatened forests and watersheds, while creating sustainable streams of income for local communities through agroforestry.

More than a reforestation initiative, One For Trees is a pledge of love for the planet and for future generations. Each tree planted is both an act of restoration and a message of care—ensuring that forests thrive, livelihoods grow, and the good life endures.
